Describe your way to Heavy Metal:

Grew up listening to Adam And The Ants as a child then discovered Iron Maiden on TV in 1985. First records I bought were by WASP, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Spazztic Blurr and Iron Maiden ('Powerslave')!

How and when did you become a collector?

I have been a collector since school when I began to collect demo tapes and records. I collect thrash/ speed and power metal CDs and rare vinyl.... because it's nostalgic and I still feel the buzz of hearing a great riff.

What kind of stuff do you collect?

Thrash, speed and power metal from c. 1984+ - usually British or US bands

Which styles do you collect?

I love thrash and speed metal I listened to Doom and Death Metal for a long time but have recently rediscovered some old gems - Watchtower, Apocrypha, Crimson Glory etc. I sold a great deal of my thrash vinyl when I was consumed by a desire to follow Death Metal. Now that I am a professional and have a greater spending power I appreciate my original tastes as a young man and am able to buy/swap titles that I want. Thrash is my first love!

How big is your collection?

My collection is growing. I reactivated my interests only a few months ago. I generally buy in 20/30 CDs a month and trade around the same number. I used to own 3/4000 records when I was younger. I sold almost half of the collection six years ago. So, today I have a GROWING collection of 1500 titles.

Where do you buy?

Record stores and traders in England as well as a great deal of music from on-line traders.

Your favourite records (by heart or value):

1) My Dying Bride - God Is Alone 7"
2) Septic Death - Now That I Have Your Attention LP (original)

8) Xentrix - Ghostbusters 12"
9) Bathory - Under The Sign Of The Black Mark LP
10) Carcass - Reek Of Putrefaction LP (with insert! Eugh!)

Do you trade / buy / sell?
