Describe your way to Heavy Metal:

Back in 1980/81 when I still was at daycare center at age three or four I got mezmerised by one of the employees t-shirt of Kiss Love gun cover. From that day on I was on my parents back's to get me an Lp till they simply gave in and bought me Rock'n'roll over which i brought everywhere. From there on it was Mötley Crüe, Kiss, Priest, Maiden, Saxon etc until I heard Entombed, Morbid Angel and then on to this and that.

How and when did you become a collector?

I've been really collecting for only the last couple of years. Why? To own more rare and forgotten metal that only I and a handful more will know of - a sort of elitist behaviour maybe :) It makes me feel good to find something you've been looking for a long time. Been lazy lately though and just bought stuff when I find it regardless of finding "bargains" or not.

What kind of stuff do you collect?

Only vinyl! Would never EVER pay to have a cd that any 14-year old kid can do in his (or her's) own bedroom. I do buy them but only to have new releases from bands that don't put out vinyl's anymore...or cd "bootleg's" of really rare/expensive vinyl's just to hear what it is. Then I go after the vinyl anyway :)

Which styles do you collect?

I'm all over the place, 70's Uk progressive and italian dito, and metal. Metal will be all from nwobhm to certain punk, speed heavy melodic etc. I would never buy a record just because it's rare - I buy for the listening experience, and of course I've made some mistakes here and there.

How big is your collection?

About 1200 vinyls (lp, ep, 7" 10" 12"). An embarrasingly large part of it is regular stuff that you could find anywhere though. But seeing it like that - now I can concentrate 100% on the not-so-easy-to-find stuff that I have the rest!

Where do you buy?

Second hand stores, people you meet that gives you a tip here and there and I do keep an eye on eBay from time to time to see what's going on. True collectors usually hate eBay, but I say why NOT take the opportunity. I mean seriously how many copies of this or that EP are you likely to run into in your life living in a small country like sweden? And I do want to hear the stuff before I grow old and lose my hearing!

Your favourite records (by heart or value):

In no specific order as of right today (aug 4 2005)
Macabre - Be forewarned 7"
Pentagram - Hurricane 7"
Universe - s/t LP
Blacksmith - 7" + LP
Still Life - s/t LP
Messiah - Final warning
Witchfinder General - soviet invasion 12"
Saint Vitus - War is my destiny 12"
Some of my most precious ones are also some of the most rare and expensive ones - that had to go at some point or another due to lack of $$$...

Do you trade / buy / sell?

If I happen to have two copies of anything I'd gladly trade or sell. I'm always interested in buying.

Any famous last words?

Gotta try it at least once
