Describe your way to Heavy Metal:

I've been listening to metal for about twenty years now. I started out with the Rolling Stones even longer ago, due to the LP collection of my uncle. Later on I discovered Status Quo, and in 1987 I heard "Whole Lotta Rosie" by AC/DC on the radio. I went to the library and found their album 'Let There Be Rock'. I borrowed it and taped it. On the b-side of the tape I recorded another LP that I found in the library, and whose cover impressed me very much at that time: 'Piece Of Mind' by Iron Maiden. I just loved both Maiden and AC/DC, and I still do. Just like I still love the Stones and Quo.

How and when did you become a collector?

I've been a collector since 1988. For the love of music and the love of vinyl.

What kind of stuff do you collect?

I collect vinyl, manly LP's. I've got some CD's, but I prefer definitely vinyl. Regular and coloured vinyl, no picture discs.

Which styles do you collect?

About 80% is hardrock/metal, from Europe to Napalm Death. But I also collect rock from the '60's and '70's, like The Rolling Stones, Bowie, Beatles, and more stuff like that. I'm no sucker for rarities (except when they're from my faves Priest, Maiden or Mercyful Fate), but if I can own it for little money I will buy it. I don't often spend more than 10 euros on an LP.

How big is your collection?

I've got about 1250 LP's and maxi's, and about 100 7" EP's and singles.

Where do you buy?

Second hand record stores, flea markets, Marktplaats (Dutch internet market site). I stopped going to record fairs, because I would totally ruin myself.
