Describe your way to Heavy Metal:

It started about 25 years ago in the late seventies with the SCORPIONS, my third record and first Metal Record was their awesome VIRGIN KILLER LP, followed by stuff from Judas Priest and Iron Maiden… Later I was a reguarly listener of the BFBS Monday(?) Rock Show, where I got contact with the NWoBHM, and I recorded tons of great stuff on tape (unfortunately I had not enough money to buy a lot of records in those times because I was still in school with a very small budget, but years later I found a lot of those songs when I started to buy most of the records available from these good old metal times).

How and when did you become a collector?

While studying, I lost a bit contact to metal, but still liked the old metal stuff I owned. Then there were CDs-and I started buying some CDs - metal and non-metal stuff. After some time I recognized, that a lot of great metal was not available (or not yet bootlegged) on CD, so I started getting this on Vinyl, like Jag Panzer, Cirith Ungol, Warlord, Omen, … and the more I got the more interesting stuff turned up, so I had to get this as well. So I developed into a metaljunky and bought thousands of records in a few years…

What kind of stuff do you collect?

Mostly vinyl records, and nowadays cds again, since a lot of great stuff is not released on vinyl anymore…

Which styles do you collect?

Basically I like all different styles of metal!!! But mostly I am stuck in classic US power, speed and thrash, followed by NWoBHM and some french and german metal

How big is your collection?

Honestly I really don't know, I never really counted my collection in detail - I estimate something around 8000 vinyl records and 2000 CDs, my whole flat is stuffed with my collection!!!

Where do you buy?

I started buying records mostly on flea markets and 2nd hand stores, then with specialised metal dealers when prices were still reasonable. Later, when prices went up to unreal dimensions, I started trading mostly via internet. Today it is quite difficult to find anything important I do not have in my collection yet and is still affordable…so I started trading CD-Rom or mp3-copies of some really rare stuff which is just to rare to find or only totally overpriced.

Your favourite records (by heart or value):

MX? Thatcher? Tyrant's Reign? DDT? ESP? Satan's Host? Raven Bitch? Salem's Witch? Decoy Paris? Halloween? Valor? VXN? Zen Venom? Adramelch? Redeemer? Odyssey, Overlord(e)?, Dragonne? Emmy Strutt? White Hott? Black Knight? Dark Knight? Solar Eagle? Killen? Trilogy? Carnage?… - honestly, I don't know and I really don't care at all anymore. Nowadays I own heaps of rare vinyls but still I will never own all of those high-class rarities which are coming up every now and then. Some are great, some are ok, and a few are just crap, but even then I try collect most of them. Sometimes because of the music, or the cover, or because they are cult or just rare…hey, that is what a metaljunky is about ;-) Naturally I still missing some (more or less) essential stuff like Villain, Militia, Paradoxx, Wyzard, Trop Feross, Street Child, Mysto Dysto, Warzwolf, Hammeron, X-Caliber, Amethyst, Iron Hawk, Iron Gypsy, Jester, Leather Nunn, Mysstress, …Since it will be impossible to get all the originals I started to trade some CD-R's to get the music, because that is the most important factor after all, right ?!

Do you trade / buy / sell?

Sure, anytime, please mail your trade stuff, I always have some hundred vinyls and cds available for trade…

Any famous last words?

Since it is not possible anymore to hear most of the stuff I own in my collection, I might start to trade some musically minor important stuff for really great music - so just get in contact…and: metallic thanks to a lot of people on this website I traded with in the past, you know who you are !!!
