Describe your way to Heavy Metal:

I listen to all kinds of metal since 1984. I was introduced to the genre by local radiostations. They had an interesting mixture of the "big names" of that time, like Sabbath, AC/DC and Iron Maiden, and some underground stuff of that time, what later turned out to be cool collectible stuff: a lot of Belgian bands, such as Acid and Bad Lizard, along with the likes of Trauma, Witch Cross, Vixen (Hawaii), Jaguar, Voivod, Satan, Future Tense, Demon Eyes, Armored Saint, etc. just to name a few. These programmes - some I still have on tape - were really a crash course in heavy metal...

How and when did you become a collector?

I started buying records in 1984 - my first ever being the 7 inch single of "2 Minutes to midnight" by Iron Maiden. By 1990, I had less than 100 LP

What kind of stuff do you collect?

My main interest is 80's metal: mostly US Metal and NWOBHM, and a bit of European stuff. But I'm also very much into doomy bands (The Obsessed, Pentagram, Candlemass, Trouble, etc.) and 60's & 70's rock/psychedelia. In fact, I like a lot of things. And yes, I'm a collector, but the music is the main part of the story, not the collecting itself. I'm not the type of guy that buys a record only because it's rare. If a record is rare, but I think it sucks, I'm not buying it, unless I know someone else is looking for it, or I can throw it in a trade. So, I'm only buying records to actually listen to themÂ… Compared to a lot of collectors, my collection may seem pretty modest, but at least I know what's in it, and most of all: I listen to it!

Which styles do you collect?

See answer above.

How big is your collection?

At the moment, I have some 2.500 titles in my collection. Most of it is vinyl (some 1.000 LP
