Describe your way to Heavy Metal:

I have been listening to metal avidly for nearly 20 years. I discovered & first started listening to metal in the 80's -KISS being the first band I got into heavily, then discovering SABBATH, PURPLE etc. Turning point albums for me were IRON MAIDEN 'Powerslave', ACCEPT 'Balls To The Wall', DIO 'Holy Diver' etc, JUDAS PRIEST 'Defenders Of The Faith' SAXON - Crusader' , KROKUS - 'Headhunter', W.A.S.P. - 'The Last Command', METALLICA 'Ride The Lightening', SLAYER ' Hell Awaits, VENOM - 'At War With Satan', MANOWAR - 'Kings Of Metal', ANTHRAX - Spreading The Disease'. I then discovered a heavy metal specialty shop in Perth called 'Twilight Records' (RIP) and started getting imported underground 80's thrash, speed & traditional metal, like MERCYFUL FATE, EXUMER, DEATHROW, CROSSFIRE, ANGEL DUST, ANVIL, FIFTH ANGEL, PRETTY MAIDS, CELTIC FROST, CARNIVORE, PILEDRIVER, CITIES, CHASTAIN, EXCITER, RAVEN, E-X-E, DARK WIZARD etc etc. I still have all my treasured vinyl that I purchased back in those days.

How and when did you become a collector?

Collecting since about 85. When CD's came out I stopped buying vinyl in the 90's but I have a renewed interest in acquiring any vinyl rarities or metal classics that have not yet been released on CD format or anything that I find interesting. I collect for the thrill of tracking down rare pieces - metal archeology and the enjoyment derived from listening to rare metal treasures!
